Friends of Thorpe Schools

The Parent-Teacher Association of Thorpe Greenways Infant School and Thorpe Greenways Junior School -- run through “The Friends of Thorpe Schools” (FOTS), a registered Charity- is bringing together parents and teachers to support the children’s education in both Schools.

The PTA plans, organizes and coordinates events throughout the school term, which are raising funds for the schools to assist in funding “extras”, for example the acquisition of new equipment, the improvement of existing equipment, resources as well as other school activities and requirements. In addition, the PTA runs many social events for parents and children, which is a great way of meeting and getting to know other people involved in the school.

Structured through a PTA Committee and four sub-committees looking after Events & Projects, Finance & Purchasing, Marketing, Communication & Administration and Health & Safety, meetings are held on a regular basis with the PTA Committee getting together once every two months and sub-committee meetings on an ad-hoc basis.

The PTA and its various activities provide the perfect setting for parents and teachers to work together and reach out to, and include, members of the local community with the common goal being to support the schools and deliver extra benefits to the children. All parents and teachers can get involved if they want to - even if they only have a small amount of time available.
